The creation of my installations is usually preceded by a collage, as a kind of prelimenary sketch.Intuitively I make compositions of -cut out of old books- shapes from different materials and colors. More and more often these preparatory collages stand on their own. This is a collage that was the foundation for the next installation.

Throughout my artistic work, I have always been fascinated by the human urge to subjugate everything to oneself. Humans try to divide the world through mathemat- ics and technology, to make it comprehensible, to structure it. Yet in my works it often becomes clear that, in my opinion, this desire is unattainable, nature cannot be grasped by human reasoning. Wide-ranging areas therefore carry away my preference: the galaxy, mountain landscapes, sea views. In this installation,

I depict the magic hour (the time of day when the sun sets) and let it contrast with a 3 metres high pool ladder from where man thinks he can oversee the sea. However, the golden atmosphere, the re ection of the sea dominates the space, nature demands all attention and trenscends the human attempt overview.
